Are There Any Alternatives Other than paying to print?
There are several options available to avoid having to pay to print at a public workstation.
VUSpace: Students, staff and faculty have access to their VUspace allocations. Whether working on a word processing document or accessing an on-line full-text article, you can save your file to VUspace, and then retrieve it later when you are at your own computer to print it.
USB memory keys: "Thumb drives", "USB Keys" - there are a variety of names for the small and portable memory chips that many of us already own. Most public access workstations will have USB ports available to allow you to plug in your thumb drive and save files to it.
E-Mail: On-line articles and databases will frequently allow you to save records or results and
email them to yourself or someone else, as an alternative to printing them out.
